Is Not My Word Like Fire?

While I was on vacation, I went to bed with a small lump in my neck that had been irritating me through the evening. The following morning, the lump had swelled to the size of a golf ball and was very sore to the touch. I visited a Prompt Care where I was vacationing and was diagnosed with an infected lymph node. The doctor wrote a prescription for antibiotics and told me to see my personal physician when I returned home.

Immediately, God quickened Jeremiah 23:29 to my spirit: “Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” As I stood on God’s Word, the pain left immediately. However, the lump was still on my neck two weeks later when I returned home.

The lump was located on the lower right side of my throat just above the collar bone. When I saw my personal physician, her immediate concern was that I may have a goiter. Goiter! Really! When is the last time you heard of somebody having a goiter? My doctor ordered an ultrasound, but by the time the test was scheduled, the growth had disappeared to a point that I could no longer feel it with my fingers. The ultrasound, though, indicated that I indeed had an abnormal enlargement of my thyroid gland. The next step was for me to have a thyroid scan.

I continued standing in faith on Jeremiah 23:29 and asked my family to be in agreement with me for total healing and deliverance from the destructive goiter. Praise God, the scan results came back normal, indicating the growth had totally disappeared. Just to ensure there were no further issues, my doctor suggested I see a specialist and pursue a biopsy. While waiting to hear from the specialist about an appointment, I continued to stand on my scripture and rest in knowing that my health was in God’s hands.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

My next visit to the doctor was for my annual check-up. After reviewing my scans again, my physician told me she felt it was no longer necessary for me to visit the specialist. What we witnessed with the goiter did not make sense medically. In fact, my doctor said, “Something has happened that I can’t explain. I believe we have seen a miracle.” Indeed. My doctor and I had both seen a miracle birthed from standing on God’s Word. I shared with her about Jeremiah 23:29 and how I had decided to trust God with the situation.

God’s Word has the ability to sustain us in any situation. I am so thankful that I had a reservoir of teachings and scriptures in my heart when the goiter appeared. Instead of responding in fear, Jeremiah 23:29 rose up in me. His Word is the firmest foundation I could ever depend on. It kept me at peace, reminded me I was not alone and produced magnificent results in my body. I am absolutely elated to see the power of God manifested in such an awesome way. Praise God for God!!!
