Help, I Need More Faith!

It takes faith to receive from God. So how do I get faith? The Bible says that God gives us a measure of faith. In other words, you have faith. God does not start you out with zero. He is not requiring something of you that you do not have. How big is this measure of faith? It’s big enough to come to know Jesus. Without faith, no one can even come to know God. It takes faith. There is nothing more powerful in the world than being born again and being transformed. If my faith is enough to save me from the pits of hell and make me an entirely new creation, acceptable in the sight of God, then I have enough faith to do anything.
People constantly ask me, “Pray for me, Pastor. Pray that I have more faith.” It doesn’t work that way. Faith doesn’t come by prayer. It doesn’t come by fasting either. The Bible says that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). So to build my faith, I must hear the Word of God. I must get in the scriptures and find out what God says. You can tell that your faith is building when the problem begins to seem smaller. You will begin to look at the situation and on the inside know, “God is bigger than this thing. I’m gonna make it.”
Faith is volitional surrender and obedience in spite of circumstances. Simply put, faith is a choice. No matter what happens, you decide whether or not you will believe God. That’s the bottom line. Faith is not moved by what is happening. In fact, faith will always demand that you let go of the things you can see. Remember, what you see is subject to change (2 Cor 4:18). Faith rests on that which will never change, the Word of God (Matthew 24:35). Faith requires you to believe and to trust that He is more than enough for you.
You already have enough faith inside of you to believe God. Let your faith rise to the occasion and let the Word of God supersede your circumstance. God is greater than what you face. He has made a way of escape for you!
