Focus on Jesus for Your Healing

Jesus longs for us to fellowship with Him and sit in His presence. He loves us dearly and wants good things for us. The problem is, we often are so distracted by our situation or circumstance that we find it difficult to be calm, settle down and focus on Him.
Jesus emphasizes the importance of simply spending time with Him and giving Him all of your attention. When He visits the home of Mary and Martha, Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus and bask in His presence. Martha, however, ran around franticly preparing the meal and trying to make everything perfect for Jesus. Martha grew weary, frustrated, and angry with her sister, Mary, because she was doing all the work. She came to Jesus to complain that she was working so hard “for him” and Mary was doing nothing! She wanted Jesus to scold Mary and make her come help with the work. However, Jesus responded very differently than she expected.
The Lord answered her, “Martha, my beloved Martha. Why are you upset, troubled (anxious, worried, frustrated) pulled away by all these many distractions? Are they that important? “Mary has discovered the one thing most important by choosing to sit at my feet. She is undistracted, and I won’t take this privilege from her” (Luke 10:38-42). Jesus said Mary had chosen the better way. Focus on Jesus.
Why is this important when seeking healing? What benefit do we gain from just “sitting” with Jesus as opposed to working so hard to get our healing from Him? Scripture tells us, “In His presence there is fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11). Joy is an essential key to healing. In the fullness of joy, there is no worry, doubt, or fear, but there is an abundance of peace and strength! When we experience the joy of His presence, we enter His peace and receive His strength. Scripture says, “The joy of the Lord is my strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). In Eph. 6:10 we are told, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” We become empowered in the Lord and in the strength of His might. In His presence, there is joy. His joy gives us strength. In His strength, there is victory!
Jesus is our Victor. He grants us the ability (grace) to conquer and overcome any weapon formed against us because He has already conquered sickness, disease and death!
Jesus said Mary discovered the one thing most important … choosing to sit at my feet. She is undistracted, and I won’t take this privilege from her.” Jesus said we can choose to sit at His feet, focus on Him, and this privilege is available to all of us! By exercising this privilege, we can experience joy and strength. We also come to the realization we are not alone or without help. … I will never leave you nor forsake you. For He has said, I will never leave you nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not. I will not release my hold on you not by any degree. (Heb. 13:5)
As we focus on Jesus for our healing, we are assured His grace is sufficient. Grace is empowerment to overcome any obstacle or trial…including sickness, disease, or affliction. This truth will keep us calm in challenging times. It is time to let go of your “Martha mentality” take on a “Mary mentality” … Learn to simply focus on Jesus!
