Fear Not for I Am With You

Fear renders faith in God’s Word inoperative. It is crippling. When we are in a tight spot, the devil always tries to defeat us through fear, but faith in the Word will cause us to rise above our fears in every situation.

When I learned that my doctor made an appointment for me to have a biopsy due to irregularities in a mammogram, fear tried to engulf me. What if I have cancer? What if? What if? What if?

When thoughts bombard our minds filling our hearts with fear, we need to pull our thoughts into focus and realize that God is greater. He is greater than the cancer. He is greater than the plague. He is greater than every financial burden we might face. God is greater than any sickness, disease, or situation that could possibly cause devastation or destruction in our lives. However, in order for faith to work, we have to know that God is willing and able to protect and deliver us from whatever has come our way.

Most people believe that God is able to do anything, but the question is, “Will He do it for me?” Scripture tells us that God does not prefer one person over another. If His Word is true for one person, it is true for everyone. From Genesis through Revelation, God has healed and delivered those that were afflicted. God healed under the Old Covenant as well as under the New Covenant. In fact, the first time God revealed His nature to the Israelites was as Healer:

Exodus 15:26  …. “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”

God was Healer then—and God is Healer now!

In order to walk victoriously, we must settle it on the inside of us that God cares about every intricate detail of our lives. He so loved the world that He sent Jesus to pay the price to defeat our enemies so that we might be His sons and daughters.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

God did not set the world in motion and then abandon us. He is a personal God. He desires an intimate, personal relationship with every person. Psalm 91 makes it very clear that God loves us and will protect us under all situations and circumstances.

Verse 3 of Psalm 91 in The Passion Translation states, “He will rescue you from every hidden trap of the enemy, and he will protect you from false accusation and any deadly curse.”

This promise is for those in Verse 1 who are “…. enthroned under the shadow of Shaddai ….” To be enthroned under the shadow of Almighty God is to know Him intimately. The only way to know God intimately is through scripture, such as those written here in Psalm 91. Find yourself in this scripture hidden under the shadow of Almighty God. See yourself protected and delivered from any plague or calamity that would try to defeat you.

Verse 7 in The Passion Translation says, “Even in a time of disaster, with thousands and thousands being killed, you will remain unscathed and unharmed. There is no calamity or sickness that would befall you that God has not already prepared a way to escape it unharmed.”

Verses 9 and 10 go on to state that “When we live our lives within the shadow of God Most High, our secret hiding place, we will always be shielded from harm. How then could evil prevail against us or disease infect us?”

Faith begins where the Word of God is known. Making up our minds to trust God outside of knowing His Word is referred to as ‘head knowledge.’ True faith that produces the manifestation of what we need from God is positively knowing that God will do what His Word said He would do. ‘Heart knowledge’ will cause you to reach out and grab healing and trust God to protect you from every evil thing that would try to come your way.

Proclaim Psalm 91 over your life and family. Take each verse individually and meditate on it. Make it personal until the Word is so real to you that you believe in your heart that under all circumstances God has your back and will take care of you.
